Scottish Ministers look to appoint new Chair of Environmental Standards Scotland
- 16 July 2024
Scottish Ministers have announced that they are looking to appoint a new Chair of Environmental Standards Scotland (ESS).
The new Chair will lead, support and steer the Board and staff to deliver ESS’ vision that Scotland’s people and nature benefit from a high quality environment and are protected from harm through the application of effective environmental laws.
A critical part of this role is the building of relationships with the Scottish Parliament, the Scottish Ministers and other key stakeholders. As a non-ministerial office, it is important that the Chair can clearly represent the independent views of ESS as a scrutiny body.
A central focus for this role will be the ongoing development of the organisation through formulating and articulating ESS’ strategy and direction. This includes the development of ESS’ second strategic plan, due for Parliamentary consideration by December 2025.
Applications will close at 5.00pm on Monday 12 August, 2024.
