New Member appointed to the Board of Environmental Standards Scotland

The Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero and Energy, Gillian Martin MSP, today announced the appointment of Laura Anderson to the Board of Environmental Standards Scotland (ESS).

Dr Richard Dixon, Chair of ESS, said:

“We are delighted that Laura Anderson has been appointed to the Board of ESS.

“Laura brings scientific expertise, award‑winning climate activism and outstanding communication skills to our Board. Her leadership in championing environmental causes – from driving the campaign to ban disposable vapes as Less Waste Laura to advancing research on blue‑green infrastructure and climate resilience through her PhD work – reflects her passion and technical insight on the environment and will strengthen our work at ESS.

“With Board experience at organisations such as Circular Communities Scotland and Environmental Protection Scotland, Laura adds valuable governance experience alongside her commitment to ensuring Scotland’s people and nature benefit from a high quality, healthy environment.

“I know Laura will make an exceptional contribution to the work of ESS, and we are very pleased to welcome her to the Board.”
